Infrared power consumption and efficiency table

Die Tabelle zeigt die gravierenden Mehrkosten des Verbrauchs
if the efficiency of the infrared heating elements is poor

Tabelle der Infrarot Energie-Mehrkosten bei einem schlechteren Wirkungsgrad als 70%This table calculates the additional costs that arise with an infrared heating element with a lower efficiency than 70%. The highest costs arise at 40%, the lowest at 70% efficiency.

If the efficiency is below 40%, it is no longer an infrared radiant heater. The proportion of convection heat is then higher than the proportion of radiation. In the current reports on the DIN tests of the TU Dresden, heating elements with less than 40% efficiency are not listed.

Physically, a maximum of 70% (± 2.8%) is achievable due to losses during the conversion of electricity into heat.

Example: with a heating electricity consumption of 6000 kWh per year (approx. standard value for a single-family house) and a DIN efficiency of 50%, the energy loss compared to the ideal value of 70% is €548.54 per year.

With a useful life of 30 years, that is Additional costs in the amount of € 16,456.20 (without discounting, etc.).

Infrared heating - energy losses with worse DIN efficiency than 70%

With infrared heaters, a maximum DIN efficiency of 70% can be achieved by converting electricity into heat for physical reasons. The table shows the additional costs if the DIN-tested efficiency is lower than 70%. The annual energy consumption is staggered in this table from 1000 kWh - 8000 kWh per year. An electricity price of 32 ct per kilowatt hour was assumed.

If the annual heat consumption in kilowatt hours has been determined by a heat requirement calculation or is known from consumption measurements or electricity bills, it is possible to determine how high the additional costs are in the event of poor efficiency. These are usually far higher than the possibly higher purchase costs for a better quality heating element.

Example: with an electricity consumption of 6000 kWh per year (approx. standard value for a single-family house) and a DIN efficiency (TU Dresden tested) of 50%, the energy loss compared to the ideal value is € 548.54 per year. With a useful life of 30 years, this corresponds to a value of € 16,456.20 (without discounting etc.).
